Quiet words for a noisy world— inviting prayer, sharing grace, speaking of God together.

Poetry and blessings from Speaking of God & Daily Christian Prayer

This is an open table where seekers, leaders, and communities can find words, prayers, and practices that nourish faith. It is a living companion to the book, offering new reflections and resources that grow with the life of the Church. Here you will find tools for personal prayer, parish life, and shared ministry—always rooted in love, openness, and the mystery of God’s presence.

The poetry is by Bill Huebsch. Artwork from Mark Hakomaki.

Let's Connect

A Table of Grace

 Come to the table,

where words are shared like bread

and silence is sipped as a fine wine.

Here wisdom is broken open,

like loaves passed from hand to hand.

Here questions are poured out,

like cups filled and shared.

At this feast of the Spirit

there is room for every hunger,

and space for every longing.

Take, eat, and be nourished:

for in this meal of prayer and reflection,

God is both our host and our food.

Song of Peace

Not far away, O God of light,

but close at hand, both day and night;

you dwell within, our breath, our song,

a love eternal, deep and strong.

No bargains now, no fear, no plea,

but open hearts in honesty;

we speak, we listen, mercy flows,

your peace within us ever grows.

Holy Mystery, love made near,

incarnate, present, always here;

our trust, our hope, our souls’ release,

you fill our lives with healing peace.

Jesus, our Server

Jesus, our Servere, bending low,

you chose the path where love must go;

not thrones or crowns, but basin, towel,

a quiet gift, a servant’s vow.

You emptied self, yet showed us more—

God’s heart revealed in love outpoured;

upon the cross, through pain and loss,

you taught us mercy, bore the cost.

And now, dear One, your name we sing,

exalted high, yet still you bring

your presence near in bread and wine,

your humble glory, love divine.

So shape our hearts to serve and share,

to wash each other’s feet with care;

till every life and every land

is held within your servant hand.

Benediction on our Journey

Holy Mystery, Love made near,

you walk with us through doubt and fear;

our hearts awaken, lives made new,

all things begin and end in you.

At table shared, in bread and wine,

in daily meals, your grace we find;

in humble service, mercy flows,

your tender face in neighbor shows.

So send us forth, O Spirit bright,

to be your presence, bear your light;

with open hands, with hearts set free,

to live your love eternally.

My Beloved One, O Grace

O God of tender mercy,

You call me by name,

and whisper in my depths:

You are my beloved.

Not by merit, not by striving,

but by Your gift alone.

Your love clothes my weakness,

Your grace fills my emptiness.

Teach me to live each day

from this truth,

to see in every face

a brother, a sister,

also beloved of You.

Let this knowledge steady my steps,

heal my wounds,

and open my hands in service.

For to be beloved by You

is to love without fear,

to live without shame,

to walk always in Your light.

Ordinary Holiness

Not in thunder, not in flames,

but in the quiet God proclaims.

In folded laundry, daily bread,

a whispered prayer before we bed.

In patient hands, in gentle tone,

in lifting burdens not our own.

The sacred hides in common things,

in kindness small, in hope that sings.

Holiness is not afar,

it shines in who we truly are.

Day by day, in love made known,

God dwells in work that feels our own.
